sGhent- Alex R. Walko, 63, of Rte. 9H died suddenly at his residence on Saturday, February 27, 2016. Born in Troy, Alex was the son of the late Peter and Dianne LaGoy Walko and husband of Cathy Lorette Walko. Alex was raised in Poestenkill and was a graduate of the Averill Park High School. He had resided in Schodack for 25 years before moving to Ghent 3 years ago. Alex had been a mechanic for Chemical Leaman Tank Lines for 25 years before starting his plumbing business A.W. & Son Inc. in Schodack. Alex was a longtime Lebanon Valley Race fan and enjoyed dining out and was the neighborhood “Dada” to the neighborhood kids. Alex was the brother of the late John and Francine Walko.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Tracy (Russell) Spinner of Valatie, Joshua (Kristen) Walko of Virginia, Jeremy (Jacqueline) Walko of Ghent and Amber Walko of Schodack, his sisters Marion Kozilsky of Lansingburgh and Cindy Corozzini of Clifton Park his brothers Peter Walko Jr. of Saratoga and Michael Walko of Schuylerville and 7 grandchildren.
