Averill Park- Anthony F. Mancino 89, of Sheer Road died on Sunday January 6, 2013 at the Community Hospice at Samaritan Hospital after a short illness. Born in Troy, Tony was the son of the late Antonio and Angelica Cardegna Mancino and husband for 63 years to the late Mary E. Butler Mancino who died on August 6, 2011. Tony was a lifelong resident of the area and had resided in the Averill Park area since 1955. Tony served in the Army during WWII. In May of 1952 Tony founded ACME Radiator Services in Watervliet. He retired in 1986 turning the business over to his sons. Tony was a Life Member of the Averill Park – Sand Lake Fire Co. He had joined the company in 1955 and had served as 1st & 2nd Lt. and served as Assistant Chief for a time starting in 1966. Tony was a longtime communicant of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park and was a founding member of St. Henry’s CYO and was active in its activities. After his retirement, Tony volunteered for a number of years in the Emergency Room of Albany Medical Center.
Anthony was the brother of the late Anna Farina, Lucy C. Halpin, Charles and Joseph Mancino. Survivors include his devoted children Kathleen (Rob) Bocchino of North Carolina, Paul of Albany, Patricia (Warren) Elston of North Carolina, Ann (James) Gardner of Averill Park, Daniel (Darcy) of East Greenbush, Elizabeth (Matthew) Magill of West Sand Lake, Thomas (Karie) Mancino and Eileen (Eric) Renaud both of Averill Park, his sister Angeline Cavanaugh of Cohoes, his brother Peter (Pat) Urquhart of Chardon, OH, 18 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Wednesday 9:30 a.m. at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park, NY where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered.
Relatives and Friends are invited and may also call at the CHURCH on Tuesday 4-8pm. Entombment St. Mary’s Mausoleum, Troy, NY. If desired the family suggests donations in memory of Anthony F.
