Averill Park- Charles Leonard Hancox, 74, of Averill Park died on May 31, 2015 following a long illness. He was born in Troy on November 26, 1940 son of Charles Leonard Hancox Sr. and Maria (Roberts) Hancox Dillon, he was also predeceased by his wife Dorothy, his daughter Eve R. (Hancox) Grogan and his brother Kenneth Hancox. He married Dorothy Zeller Bennett after his marriage to Rena Williams Hancox Mayberry of Shrewsbury MA. ended. He is survived by his children and stepchildren Evan L. Hancox-Rozicki of Shrewsbury, MA., Charles Benjamin Hancox of Hueytown, AL., Wayne, James, Tim, and Christine Bennett, his grandchildren Alonzo Grogan, Conor Rozicki, Alice Grogan Lewis, Sydney Hancox, Teo Vazquez, Kayla McCulough and several great-grand children. Charlie had resided in Averill Park since 1993 and previously had lived in Green Island. He had served with the Army National Guard from 1956- 1964 and had spent most of his working career at the ZAK Machine Company where he had worked as a driver and in the shipping department. Charlie was a devoted fan of the NY Giants, happiest at home in Averill Park with Dot, longtime friends Bill and Carol and his neighbors.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Saturday 1p.m. at the Oakwood Cemetery. A procession will form at the Oakwood Ave. entrance at 12:45 p.m.
