Poestenkill- Christopher L. Atchinson, 51, of Woodland Path Way died on Sunday, February 23, 2014 at his residence surrounded by his loving family. Born in Albany, Chris was the son of the late Harry and Beverly Post Buthfer and the beloved husband of Lisa Knight Atchinson. Chris was a graduate of Averill Park High School, HVCC, and Siena College, where he earned a bachelor's degree in finance. Chris had been a senior claims adjustor with Crawford & Co. for the past 2 1/2 years and had previously worked for MetLife. Chris had been an adjunct professor at Siena College and had taught managerial finance. Chris was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park, was a member of the Hendrick Hudson Fish & Game Club, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He was a Harley Davidson enthusiast, an animal lover and an avid reader. Survivors, in addition to his wife, include his devoted daughters, Jessica-Ann (Brian) Taylor of Riverdale, N.J., Jennifer (Dustin) Connelly of Franklin Park, N.J. and Jamie Atchinson of Poestenkill; his brothers, Mark H. (Michelle) Atchinson of Middleburgh, N.Y., Rustin D. (Theresa) Atchinson of Averill Park and Sharif (Erin) Mohammed of Averill Park, his sister, Alana B. Atchinson of Bloomsburg, Pa. and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10 a.m. at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Rte. 66, Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park on Thursday 4-7 p.m. Interment St. Henry's Cemetery.
