Averill Park-Dorothy R. Tremont, 94, a longtime resident of Sheer Road died on Wednesday October 30, 2013 at Evergreen Commons after a long illness. Born in Nassau, Dorothy was the daughter of the late Abram and Charlotte Hutchinson Richards and wife of the late Kenneth J. Tremont. A longtime resident of Averill Park, Dorothy was a co-owner along with her husband, of Tremont Lumber. Dorothy retired in 2004. Dorothy and Ken traveled extensively, enjoying the Caribbean, Bermuda, the Panama Canal, the US, Alaska and Hawaii. She traveled to the bottom of the Grand Canyon on a mule, kissed the Blarney Stone, visited Europe and the Holy Land. Dorothy was a communicant of St. Henry's Church in Averill Park and was a charter member of the Chandler Young VFW Post Ladies Auxillary in Nassau where she had served as secretary and treasurer. Dorothy was the mother of the late Dennis H. Tremont Sr.; sister of the late Henry, Everett and Howard Richards and Irene Peters. Survivors include her son, Kenneth E. (Late Anne) Tremont Sr. and Jacqueline Tremont (Brian) Bradley, both of Averill Park; her grandchildren, Kathleen Tremont (Richard) Wright, Kimberly (Brian) Berger, Kenneth E. (Kathi) Tremont Jr., Dennis H. Tremont Jr., Sonya Tremont, Jennie Williams and Brett Williams and several great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Funeral Monday, 11 a.m. at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Rte. 66, Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Interment will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery, Nassau. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at St. Henry's Church on Sunday, 1-4 p.m. If desired donations in memory of Dorothy R.
