Schodack- Earl P. Knapp Jr., 78, of Charlie St. Castleton, died on Sunday, November 23, 2014 at Rosewood Gardens Nursing Home after an extended illness. Born in Troy, Earl was the son of Earl and Lena Warner Knapp and husband for 55 years to Janet Momrow Knapp. Earl was raised and lived in the Averill Park area until 1991 when h moved to Schodack. He was a graduate of the Averill Park High School. Earl had worked at the former Giffords Market at Glass Lake for a number of years and then worked for the Averill Park School District for 28 years where he had been a custodian. He had retired in 1993. Earl was an avid ice fisherman and for many years enjoyed dancing at the Crooked Lake Hotel on Saturday nights. Earl will be remembered for his kind easygoing personality. Earl was the father of the late James Knapp. Survivors include his sons Steven (Alison) Knapp of Nassau, John Knapp of Brunswick and Daniel (Lori) Knapp of Brunswick, his close friend Robert Cushing and more recently his friend Anthony Byrd along with 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. Funeral Service Saturday 12 noon at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Funeral Chapel on Saturday 10 a.m. – 12 noon prior to the service. The family suggests donations in memory of Earl P.
