Sand Lake- Florence C. Teal, 95, a longtime resident of the Sand Lake, Averill Park and Nassau area died on Tuesday, February 11, 2014 after a long illness. Born in Stephentown, Florence was the daughter of the late Morton and Grace Griffin Culver, and wife of the late Hazen Lord and Alvin Teal. Florence had attended the Averill Park Schools. Florence retired from the Sterling Winthrop Co. in 1972 where she had been a sorter on the production line for 27 years. Florence found great enjoyment on her weekly trips to the Schodack, Rensselaer and Grafton Senior Centers. She was a longtime member of the Sand Lake Seniors. Florence was the sister of the late Evelyn Miller, Phyllis Miranda and Willis Culver; and aunt of the late Fred Curto, David Rathbun, Vaughn "Barney" Rathbun, Craig Miller and Doris Mae Curto. Survivors include her sister, Elsie (late William) Rathbun of Nassau; and her brother, Harry "Bear" (Thelma) Culver of Sand Lake; her nieces, Virginia Seburn and Boni Graham; and her nephew, Kevin Miller Sr. Florence's family wishes to thank Michelle Hoffay Larson for the care given to Florence. Services will be private at the convenience of the family. Spring Interment in the Cemetery of the Evergreens, New Lebanon. If desired donations in memory of Florence C.
