AVERILL PARK Anita M. Scott, 71, of Vosburg Road died unexpectedly on Wednesday, February 13, 2013 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital. Born in Athol, Mass., Anita was the daughter of the late Robert Leonard and Virginia Whitney Leonard Gerard. She grew up in Rensselaer, was a graduate of Van Rensselaer High School where she was a member of the cheerleading squad. Anita moved to the Averill Park area in 1964. Anita worked for the Averill Park School District for over 30 years, where she had been a secretary in the high school. Anita was a former member of the Eastern Star. Survivors include her daughter, Linda (Mark D.) Bonesteel of Sand Lake; her son, Edward (Jacqueline) Scott of Churubusco, N.Y.; her sister, Joyce Downing of Ballston Spa; her brother, Robert Leonard Jr. of Stephentown; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Funeral Service Saturday 2 p.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park. Relatives and Friends are invited and may call at the funeral chapel on Saturday 12- 2 p.m. prior to the service. Interment Bloomingrove Cemetery, Defreestville, N.Y. If desired donations in memory of Anita M. Scott may be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer Co., 295 Valleyview Blvd., Rensselaer, NY 12144.
