Rensselaer- Charles W. “Chach” Smith Jr., 58, of Washington Street died suddenly on Saturday, April 2, 2016 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital after being stricken in Glenmont. Born in Albany, Chach was the son of Lillian Eggleston Smith and the late Charles W. Smith Sr. Chach was raised in the south end of Albany and he was a member of the International Longshoreman’s Union 1249. Chach had worked at the Port of Albany for over 35 years where he was a foreman. Chach was a huge Washington Redskins Fan and loved Rhythm & Blues and Oldies Music.
Chach was the brother of the late Sheila Clark.
Survivors in addition to his mother include his beloved daughter Cali (Jeffrey) Spencer, his sisters Rhonda (late William) Smith, and Nicole (Joseph) DeFazio and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 4- 7 p.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park on Thursday April 7, 2016 with a service to follow at 7 p.m.
