Averill Park- Doris M. Miner, 79, of Greenman Hill Road, Town of Nassau, died on Sunday June 23, 2013 at the home of her daughter after a long illness. Born in Lloyd, NY, Doris was the daughter of the late George and Anna Spudling Calhoun and wife for 60 years to Henry A. Miner Jr.who died on Monday June 24, 2013. Doris had resided in the Albany and Troy areas before moving to Nassau in 1970. Doris had worked at the former Leonard Hospital where she was a nurse’s aide. After leaving the hospital, Doris continued to do private duty nursing. Doris enjoyed taking care of her many farm animals, enjoyed gardening, canning, garage sales and flea markets. Doris was affectionately none as “Ma” not only to her children but also to many friends. Doris was the mother of the late Henry A. Miner III, sister of the late Edward Calhoun and mother in law of the late Curtis Conyers Survivors in addition to her husband include her children Robert (Doris) Miner of Sand Lake, Barbara (Ken) Shoemaker of East Nassau, Susan (Joe) Bartlett of Lansingburgh, Donna M. (Bruce) Brenner of Hanover Township, PA and Joanne Conyers of Troy, sister of William, George and Bob Calhoun and Janet Barringer and Rosemary Scarfo-Miller,18 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. Funeral Saturday 10 a.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral chapel on Friday 4-7pm. Doris and Henry will be interred at Memory Gardens, Colonie, NY. If desired donations in memory of Doris M. Miner may be made to the Community Hospice of Rensselaer Co. 295 Valley View Blvd. Rensselaer, NY 12144 or the Hoags Corners Ambulance PO Box 90 East Nassau, NY 12062.
