Schenectady- Florence M. Proper, 102, of the Capital Living Nursing Centre died suddenly on Wednesday March 19, 2014 at the Ellis Hospital after being stricken at her residence. A lifelong resident of Schenectady, Florence was the daughter of the late Freeman and Laura Mann Proper. Florence retired from the NYS Dept. of State in the late 1960’s. She had held several positions the last being a keypunch operator. Florence had resided in her home until 2002 and had settled in at the Heritage Home for Women before moving to Dutch Manor and lastly at the Capital Living Nursing Centre. She was a longtime member of the Albany Street Methodist Church and had been a volunteer at the church and many years ago was a volunteer with the Vista Program at Union College. Florence was the sister of the late Dorothy Basolt and is survived by a nephew Robert (Irene) Basolt of Watertown, 2 grandnieces and a grand nephew and several great grand nieces and nephews.
