Poestenkill- Norman T. Goodell, 79, of Cathlie Drive died on Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Troy after a long illness. Born in Bremare, PA. Norm was the son of the late Carroll and Edith Goodrich Goodell and husband of Leona Palmer Goodell. Norman had resided in the Capital District area for most of his life and in Poestenkill since 1967. Norm had served in the Army National Guard. Norm had been a driver for King Fuels for a number of years and then was an owner operator for North American Van Lines and lastly had retired from Gorman Bros. In Albany in 2007 where he had been a driver/foreman. Norm had been active in many organizations during his lifetime including the Poestenkill Fire Co. and Ambulance, the Sullivan Jones VFW Post, The North Green bush American Legion Post, 205th Support Group NYARNG, the 210th Armor Assoc. and the Commanders Club. Norm was the brother of the late Raymond Goodell.
Survivors in addition to his wife includes his children Mary (Gary) Lunderville of St. Johnsbury, VT, Nancy (John) Abbott of Averill Park, Norine (Chuck) Ellett of Waterford, Norman C. (Debbie) Goodell of Colonie, Pati (Jeff Norko) Brunswick of Styvesant, NY and Kathy (Frank) Viggiano of Delmar his sisters Gladys “Cupie” Hughes of Tamarac and Marion Ward of Aschlot, NH, 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral Service Monday 7 p.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral Chapel on Monday 4-7 p.m. prior to the service.
