Sand Lake- Ada Mae Ernest, 83, of Taborton Road died on Saturday, August 31, 2013 after a long illness. Ada was lifelong resident of Sand Lake and a daughter of the late Carl and Bessie Teal Dobert and wife of the late Harry W. Ernest. Ada was a homemaker and had also worked at the Sand Lake Post Office for a number of years. She was a lifelong active member of the Zion’s United Church of Christ in Taborton where she had served on various boards, was active in the annual Summer Festival, worked the turkey dinners and was a member of the Adult Fellowship. Ada was a longtime member of the Taborton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Sand Lake Seniors, a former member of the Black River Raiders Snowmobile Club and the Senior Bowling League. Ada enjoyed traveling, camping and the time she spent with her grandchildren. Ada was the mother of the late Rodney Ernest and sister of the late Hilda Biittig, George, Marshall, Donald, Chester and Ralph Dobert. Survivors include her sons Terry Ernest of Skaneateles, NY, Jay (Lisa) Ernest and Clay (Beth) Ernest both of Sand Lake, her sisters Evelyn Hoffman and Jane McClellan both of Averill Park and June Price of Mountain Home, AR; and her grandchildren Denise Johnson, Jay Ernest II, Jonathan, Kristen and Kyle Ernest. Funeral Service Wednesday 10:30 am at the Zion’s United Church of Christ 747 Taborton Road, Sand Lake. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park on Tuesday 4-7pm. Interment Sand Lake Union Cemetery.
