Emblem
Averill Park- Albert A. Hayner, 95, of Averill Park, passed into eternal rest at his home on Saturday, January 29, 2022. Albert was the son of the late Arthur and Marie Herman Hayner. He was a loving husband to his late wife, Marilyn D. Hayner for 58 years, and devoted father to three children, Arthur A. Hayner of Averill Park, the late, Arlene M. Hayner, and Alyson (Edward) Regan of Averill Park. Proud grandfather to Ryan (Ada), Lauren (Daniel) Fudge, Matthew, and Megan Regan, and Elizabeth (Grey) Masko and Gregory Hayner and great grandfather to Isaac, Arlo, Henry, and Eleanor Fudge.
Al loved the town he lived in his whole life and loved his country. He was a true patriot.
Al was a veteran of WWII as a Corporal of the US Army Air Corp. He received his associates degree at Albany Business College and was employed by the Legislative Index Company as an executive. Al began his entrepreneurship at the age of seventeen with a corner store. He made sure it was a family-friendly place, where people could gather to eat ice cream, listen to the jukebox, and dance. From there, he established an appliance store and the Al Hayner Boat Storage business. He founded The Advertiser newspaper in his home to promote local businesses as well as his own. Al took immense pride in his work, he was disciplined, patient, and a pillar of the community. He always took the time to make sure the people in his life knew how important they were to him. He saw the best in people, and made sure they knew it. The moments Al cherished the most involved being with his family. He was a boating enthusiast and would bring his many loved ones camping every summer in Red Rock Bay, Lake George. He frequently made boating trips up the Mohawk River with friends, family, and colleagues. Right up to the very end, Al made a point to always stay active, whether that be chopping wood, mowing the lawn, or getting the mail. Al attended Grace Fellowship and never missed a Sunday; he was a great believer in divine intervention and considered himself truly blessed. He was a man of routine, a storyteller, a bearer of wisdom, and always came through for his family and friends.
