Averill Park- Alfred A. “Al” McCarthy Jr., 93 of Eastern Union Turnpike passed at his residence on Wednesday November 10, 2021 with his wife and daughter at his side. Born in Milford, CT. Al was the son of the late Alfred A. and Catherine Larkin McCarthy and the beloved husband of Judith Powell McCarthy.  Al was raised and educated in Connecticut and he had entered the Navy in 1946 and was Honorably Discharged in 1947. Al moved to the Averill Park Area a number of years ago and had resided at Crooked Lake until moving to his present home in 2006. Al was a self-employed drywall contractor for many years and was well known in the area for his taping skills. Al was a member of the Sgt. Walter Adams American Legion Post in Averill Park. He enjoyed snowmobiling, boating, fishing and keeping his house in tip top repair.
Al was the father of the late Van McCarthy and step father of the late David Platt.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his daughter Judi McCarthy of Averill Park, his step son Christopher (Douglas Carter) Platt of Atlanta, GA, his son Mark (Terry) McCarthy of Milford CT. along with 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and dear friend Dennis Buck.
Funeral Services were private for the family under the direction of the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel.
Interment with Naval Honors was in the Sand Lake Union Cemetery.
