Andrew G. Avery

Poestenkill- Andrew G. Avery, 69, of Tymeson Road passed away on Friday, September 4, 2026 at the Samaritan Hospital in Troy after sudden illness. Born in Troy, Andy was the son of the late Marjorie Gail Tymeson Avery and his late father. Andy was a lifelong resident of the area and attended LaSalle Institute and was a graduate of Troy High School class of 1977. After graduation Andy entered the Marine Corp where he served 4 years and was Honorably discharged in August 1981 with a rank of Lance Corporal. Some of Andy’s earlier interest in life included carpentry, culinary arts. He worked with the RPI capital region Islanders hockey team, he was also very interested in cars this is where he began working on the race car with the Tremont racing team. This led Andy into the career field as an auto mechanic working in area car dealerships including Albany Dodge, Arrow Pontiac, Quinn Automotive, and Service manager at Nemer Volkswagen. Later in life Andy was an avid motorcycle rider having owned Harley Davidson motorcycles, enjoyed woodworking and enjoyed handyman projects. Andy began working at Home Depot and with Metropolitan Staple Corp where he was a valued and hardworking employee.

Andy was the brother of the late Richard Avery.

Survivors include his devoted daughter Andrea Avery of Mechanicville, his loving granddaughter Makenzie Oliver of Mechanicville, his good friend Rhonda Smith, lifetime companion/ex wife Laura Avery, 2 Aunts and several cousins.

Relatives and friends are invited to celebrate the lives of Andy and his Mother Gail and may call 9am-11pm on Monday, September 14, 2026 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park followed by a service. Inurnment with honors will follow at Saratoga National Cemetery.
