Arestea “Irene” Chakonas

West Sand Lake- Arestea “Irene” Chakonas, 86, of Rockery Terrace, died after a long illness on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Evergreen Commons Nursing Facility in East Greenbush where she had been a patient since March. Born and educated in Worcester, MA. Irene was the daughter of the late Joakim and Antoinette Tsombakos. Irene and her family had moved to Averill Park in 1963 and to East Greenbush in 1977 and to West Sand Lake in 2003. Irene was a homemaker until her children were old enough for her to work at Simmons Fastener Co. in Menands where she worked for 20 years as an assembler. Irene enjoyed Crocheting.
Irene is the mother of Joan (John Acello) Chakonas of Forest Hills, NY, Jeffrey Chakonas of West Sand Lake and the late George C. Chakonas and the sister of the late Ann Kleovoulas and John Tsombakos.
A private graveside service will be held at the Waterford Rural Cemetery.
The family request donations in memory of Arestea Chakonas may be made to the Sand Lake Ambulance PO Box 222 West Sand Lake, NY 12196.
