Sand Lake- Aubrey F. Primeau, 90, of Oak Hill Road passed to eternal life in the early morning of Christmas day, December 25, 2016 at St. Peter’s Hospice Inn in Albany. Born in Malta Montana, Aubrey was the son of the late Xavier F. and Alberta F. Bull Primeau and the beloved husband of the late Beatrice Teal Primeau. Aubrey had lived in Vermont and Cohoes and then had resided in Canada for 6 years where he joined the Canadian Army before coming back to the States and joining the US Navy where he was a Carpenter’s Mate. After his discharge from the Navy in 1946 he moved back to the area. Aubrey was self-employed for many years in the home modernization trade doing siding and aluminum work. Aubrey worked for HVCC for 11 years and at the time of his retirement was a maintenance supervisor.
Aubrey was active in numerous organizations including the Sand Lake Seniors where he held various offices, the Southern Tier Seniors where he was a former President, a life member of the Sullivan-Jones VFW Post, a charter member of the Lt. Perry Williams Post, a communicant of St. Henry’s Church and a life member of the Knights of Columbus, a former Boy Scout Leader, former member of the Averill Park - Sand Lake Fire Co., former member of the Averill Park Fish & Game Club, the Black River Raiders Snowmobile Club, was a member and former president of the Zion UCC Adult Fellowship and enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Aubrey was the father of the late Candice and Janice Primeau and brother of the late Madeline Martin.
Survivors include his children Diane (Don) Champion of Knox, Sylvia (the late Frank) Cocca of Wynantskill, Roberta (Ronald) Gentner of Poestenkill, Raymond (Terri) Primeau of Sand Lake, Mark (Kathy) Primeau of Berlin, Susan (Michael) TenEyck of West Sand Lake, David (Linda) Primeau of Poestenkill and Timothy (Georgianna) Primeau of Sand Lake, his sister May Deneault of Hemmingford, Quebec, Canada. 15 grandchildren and many great grandchildren also survived Aubrey.
Funeral Mass 10 a.m. Friday December 30,2016 at St. Henry’s Church 39 Old Rte 66 Averill Park.
Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the St. Henry’s Church 3-7 p.m. on Thursday December 29, 2016.
Interment with Military Honors will follow the Funeral Mass at Sand Lake Union Cemetery.
The family suggests donations in memory of Aubrey F. Primeau may be made to St. Henry’s Church PO Box 550 Averill Park, NY 12018.
