Averill Park- Bernice Jean Jarvis, 75, of Eastern Union Turnpike died on Sunday, March 6, 2022 at her residence after a long illness. Born in Watervliet to John and Sadie Reinhart Edwards, Bernice resided in Troy for many years with her late husband, Harold Jarvis, before moving to the Averill Park area in 2011. Prior to her retirement, Bernice worked for the Holiday Inn in Colonie. She enjoyed camping, bingo, her pets, and wordsearch puzzles but most of all, she loved being Grandma to Jessica (Spencer) Kennedy, James (Madison) La Barge, Tyler (Jennifer) La Barge, Timothy Geddis Jr., Toby Geddis. In addition to her grandchildren, Bernice is survived by her devoted daughter, Jacqueline (Richard) La Barge, her loving sons, Gerald Geddis and Timothy (Kristi) Geddis, three great grandchildren, and her siblings: Carol Keough, Betty Anne Kepner, Jacqueline Toma, and Carl Edwards. Bernice was the mother of the late Jennifer Lynn Geddis and the former wife of the late James W. Geddis. One of fourteen children, she was predeceased by her twin, Beverly McConnell, sisters Barbara Lewis and Florence Sgambelluri and brothers James, Bruce, Lloyd, Paul, Jerry and Gary Edwards. Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-7 pm on Wednesday, March 9 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park. A funeral and committal service will be held 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 10 at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
