East Poestenkill- CarolLynn M. S. Langley a longtime resident of East Poestenkill died peacefully at home on Saturday, October 7, 2023. Born on November 13, 1945 in Troy, NY, she was the daughter of the late George P. & Carolyn P. H. Schongar, Jr. and wife of Wilbert Eugene Langley for 60 wonderful years.

Although life was difficult having polio since her childhood, CarolLynn enjoyed riding horses and working on their family farm. She was active in 4-H leading a horse club for 20 years, as area leader of Guiding Eyes for the Blind and assistant leader of the 4-H square Dance group, all at the side of her husband.  She was also very active in her church, in her children’s schools and in Home Bureau for many years.

Her employments include Duffers, Mark Merrett Studio and St Anne Institute. CarolLynn & Gene had a Wedding Service with their Horse & Carriage for many years. With their love for music, they became well known for playing their Mountain Dulcimer and Autoharp as Quiet Creek Music, producing CDs. Serving many years together, CarolLynn was president of DAA and involved with Old Songs Festival, with SLCA as actors, directors and set designers. She took great joy as the chair and co-founder of the Squire Jacob Concert Series, and scheduling the performers.

CarolLynn loved her childhood pet crow named Jimmy, a skunk named Elvis, and turtles, owls and goats, but NOT spiders!!! She loved her dogs most of all.

Survivors in addition to her husband include her children Nancie L. (Dan) Orsini and Laurel D. (Dan) Ashdown both of East Poestenkill and Todd J E Langley of Nassau. CarolLynn was the proud Grandie of D. Richard Ashdown of E. Poestenkill, Patrick D. (Susanna) Ashdown of Wyoming, DE, Zachary M. and Philip D. Orsini both of E. Poestenkill and Briana L. (Eric Jr.) Kaarstad of Wynantskill and great grandmother of Daniel C. and Emma C. Ashdown and Eric E. Kaarstad III. Sister of Heidi A. (John) Kowalchyk of Nassau, sister-in-law of Robert (Phyllis) Langley of NC and several nieces, nephews, cousins and their families.

Funeral 11 am Friday, October 13, 2023 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park with burial to follow at Brookside Cemetery, Barberville.

Relatives and friends are invited and may also call 4-7 pm on Thursday, October 12 at the funeral chapel.
