Poestenkill- Charles F. Dickinson, 87, of Main Street, died on Friday, June 24, 2022 at his residence after a time of declining health. Born and raised in Elmira, NY, Charlie was the son of the late Charles L. and Nanadiline Fulford Dickinson and husband of Joyce Craver Bubie-Dickinson. Charlie served in the Army during Korea and then had a 5-year career as a Horse Jockey at the Greentree Stables in Kentucky.  For 20 years he worked at Remington Rand Typewriter Co. in Elmira where he was an office supervisor until their closing. Charlie then went to work at HSBC in Elmira for 22 years where he was an Operations Officer. He retired in 1993. He moved to Poestenkill in 2006 where he was a member of the Poestenkill Church of Disciples.
Charlie was a 70-year member of the Corning Odd Fellows Lodge #94 along with lodges in Connecticut and Vermont. He was a member of all units of the order and held various offices. He was Past Grand Chaplain in the NYS Grand Lodge, Past Grand Patriarch, and Grand Scripe for 38 years at Grand Encampment, Past Deputy Commander and Dept Adjunctent with the Dept. of New York and had served as Chaplain with the Rebekah Assembly.
Charlie was husband of the late Dawn Dickinson, father of the late CathieJo Mayer and the brother of the late Dorothea Hill.
Survivors in addition to his wife include his children, Alicia R. (James) Reedy and Kimberly (Chad) Dailey all of Elmira 12 grandchildren and several great grandchildren along with nephews James and Elvin Hill.
Charlie’s family wishes to thank the Community Hospice, including Stephen and Denise for the care given to Charlie in his final days.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 2-6 pm on Thursday, June 30 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park followed by a service at 6 pm.
A Burial Service will be held on 11 am Friday July 1 at the Eagle Mills Cemetery
