Poestenkill- Clarence A. “Tom” Goyer, 92, of Blue Factory Road died at his residence on Sunday, September 21, 2014 after a long illness. Born in Sand Lake Tom was the son of the late Archie and Carrie Miller Goyer and husband of the late Edna A. Toussaint Goyer. Tom was a resident of Poestenkill most of his life. Tom served in the Army during WWII and was discharged with a rank of Technical Sergeant. Many years ago Tom ran Goyer’s Garage on Spring Ave. before moving the operation to Blue Factory Road. In 1963 Tom went to work for the Northeast Carpenters /Millwrights Union from which he retired from in 1983. Tom also ran his gentleman’s farm on Blue Factory for many years. Tom enjoyed hunting and was a charter member of the Mark 20 Sportsman’s Club, a charter member of the Sullivan Jones VFW Post and was a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poestenkill. Tom enjoyed bird carving, eating out and was a friend to many animals. Tom was the brother of the late Paul J. and Pete M. Goyer, Norma Brod and Alma Brown. Survivors include his daughter Virginia “Ginger” Goyer of Rochester, his son in law James Stewart of Rochester, his sister Florence Smeland of Poestenkill along with many beloved nieces and nephews. Funeral Thursday 10 am at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral chapel on Wednesday 4-7 pm.
Interment Brookside Cemetery, Barbersville. Tom’s family suggest donations in his memory may be made to the Sullivan Jones VFW Post PO Box Poestenkill, NY 12140 or the Poestenkill Fire Co. PO Box 14 Poestenkill NY 12140.
