Averill Park- Colton Jay Butterfield, 21, of South Road, Averill Park died suddenly on Friday, September 29, 2017 in Daytona Beach, Fla. from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident. Born in Albany, Colton was the beloved son of R.Jay and Kelly Lymburner Butterfield. Colton was raised in the Averill Park area and he was a 2015 graduate of the Averill Park High School where he was the Class President. During high school he was a member of the football team and the Varsity Wrestling team. He had been chosen for Boys State and was nominated for Rensselaer County Student of the Year. Colton had received a Military and Academic Scholarship to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach where he had been in his Junior year. Colton was a member of ROTC and upon his graduation from Embry- Riddle he would have been a commissioned officer in the Army. Colton was a member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing, hunting and four wheeling, snowmobiling, go-cart racing and above all cars.
In addition to his parents Colton leaves his brother Spencer Jay Butterfield of Averill Park, grandparents Shirley Larkin (the late Richard E.) Butterfield of Sand Lake, Ronald and Terri Lymburner of Selkirk, great grandmother Lucille DiGregorio of The Villages, Fla., Colton was the nephew of Richard L. Butterfield of Schodack and Sharon and Dennis Urgento of Southport, N.C. He is also survived by cousins and many Fraternity and Military Brothers at Embry Riddle.
Relatives and Friends are invited to a Memorial Service
2 p.m. on Saturday, October 14 at Westfall Station Rte. 43 Averill Park followed by a reception.
