Waterford- Danforth H. Chriss Sr., 74, of First Ave. died on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at Samaritan Hospital after being stricken at home. Born in Troy, Dan was the son of the late Harry Dean and Marie F. Chriss. As a youngster Dan lived in the Sand Lake/Burden Lakes area before moving to Green Island where he graduated from Heatley High School. Dan entered the Navy in 1962 and served until 1965. Dan settled in Waterford and had a lifelong career with Ford Motor Company starting in Green Island before moving to Michigan when Green Island shut down. He was a machine operator most of those years and retired on August 1, 2004 at which time he moved back to Waterford. In his younger years Dan enjoyed hunting and boating. He belonged to the Green Island American Legion and was a connoisseur of Ford Motor cars having owned numerous models during his lifetime.
Survivors include his sons Danforth H. Chriss Jr. and Derek H. Chriss both of Sand Lake and Harry D. Chriss of Michigan his grandchildren Austin D. Chriss and Olivia Chriss. Dan was the brother of the late Carol Corey and John Chriss.
Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the funeral chapel 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 31.
Funeral 9 a.m. Friday, February 1 at the Perry – Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park with burial to follow at 11:30 a.m. at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Saratoga National Cemetery.
