Daniel L. Hartnett

Poestenkill- Daniel L. Hartnett, 68, of Route 351, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2025 at the Riverside Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing in Castleton New York after a long illness. Born in Troy, Daniel was the son of Lois Ryan Hartnett and the late Leo “Gabby” Hartnett. Dan was a lifelong resident of Poestenkill and was a graduate of the Brittonkill Schools class of 1973. He joined the Air Force in 1975 and was Honorably Discharged in 1979. Dan had a 44-year career with New York State where he was a printer. He had retired in 2024.

Dan enjoyed bowling, was a member of the Taconic Valley Rod & Gun Club, taught shooting and collected knives. He found great enjoyment being Mr. Fixit tinkering with non-working“things” and making them work again. Dan was great in the kitchen and enjoyed cooking and was a longtime communicant of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park.

Dan was the brother of the late James M. Hartnett.

Survivors in addition to his mother include his sister Leona (Daryl) Gooley of Poestenkill, niece Lauren (Keith) Algozzine of Poestenkill, nephew William (Kathleen) Gooley of Malta and great niece and nephew Mia and Gideon.

Relatives and friends are invited and call 9-11 am on Friday, August 8, 2025 at the Perry -Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park, NY followed by a service at 11:00 am

Burial will follow in the Hillside Cemetery, Poestenkill.
