East Poestenkill-Daniel J. Giaquinto, 53, of Plank Road died suddenly at his residence on Saturday, July 8, 2017 after being stricken. Born in Niskayuna, Dan was the son of Raphael Memloi (the late Arthur) Rhodes of Northport, Fla. And the late Michael R. Giaquinto and the beloved husband of Kathleen Miller Giaquinto. Dan resided in Scotia before moving to East Poestenkill 14 years ago and was a graduate of SUNY Cobleskill with an Associate Degree in Culinary Arts. Dan’s career was with different venues in the restaurant industry and at the time of his death was the chef at the Van Rensselaer Manor a job he had for the past 10 years. Dan also worked at the Airway Meadows Golf Club in Wilton and did specialty food for Rte. 66 meats in Wynantskill. Dan attended the Sand Lake Baptist Church, enjoyed golfing, fishing, camping and his time with his grandchildren.
Dan was the brother of the late Donna Mattice. Survivors in addition to his wife and mother include his step children Joshua P. Engwer, Jessica (David J.) Gibson and Haley M. Lefebvre, his brother Andrew (Eileen) Giaquinto of Clifton Park, grandchildren Omri M. Engwer, Ayden J. Longe, Hunter J. Longe and Olivia L. Gibson, Nephews Daniel Giaquinto, Stephen and Matthew Mattice, nieces Mindy Richards, Kristen Gibson and Catherine Mattice, his mother in law Patsy Miller and his four-legged companion Chewy.
Funeral Service 10 a.m. Thursday, July 13 at the Sand Lake Baptist Church 2966 NY 43 Averill Park.
Relatives and friends are invited and may also call 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday, July 12 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
The family suggest donations in memory of Daniel J. Giaquinto may be made to the American Cancer Society 1 Penny Lane Latham, NY 12110.
