Averill Park- It is with sorrow we mourn the passing on February 1,2025 of Diane Laura Tifft of Glass Lake. Born in Albany on July 13, 1947, Diane was the daughter of the late Harold C. and Alice Lee Tifft. Diane was a 1965 graduate of the Averill Park High School. Diane continued her education at HVCC graduating with a degree in Respiratory Therapy. She later attended Calvary Chapel Bible College in California where she treasured many of the friends she met there. Diane worked many jobs during her life including Samaritan Hospital, cashiering at Saratoga Race course and for the past 20 years as a medical and insurance customer service representative among others.
Other than her time in California Diane spent her life at Glass Lake. Family and faith were the core values in life for Diane. As a youth, she enjoyed the outdoors with her siblings riding bikes, playing cowboys and Indians, ice skating, and tobogganing. Diane was a longtime member of the Sand Lake Baptist Church and more recently the West Stephentown Baptist Church and enjoyed singing in the church choir and now adds her voice to the choir of angels. She enjoyed the times she spent with her family, having special celebrations, summer cookouts, the family poker games, and just hanging out on the deck by the lake. She rooted for the Yankees and the Washington Commanders or as she insisted on calling them the Redskins. Diane enjoyed talking politics and was an outgoing personality who made friends quickly. Diane lived her faith with a forgiving, compassionate, and generous heart.
Diane was predeceased by her parents and her brother Lee Tifft.
Survivors include her sisters Linda (Charlie) Matlock and Cyndi (Arthur Jr.) Herman and her sister in law Mary Jane Tifft all of Glass Lake. Also left to cherish her memory are numerous nieces, nephews that she held close to her heart as well as her rescue cat from Hawaii, Hala.
Diane’s family wishes to thank the staff at the Daughters of Sarah, St. Peters Hospital and St. Peters Hospice Inn, along with the many friends that remembered Diane these past months, for all the care and concerns given to Diane.
