Poestenkill- Edward F. Showers, 94, of Snyder’s Corners Road died on Monday, March 7, 2022 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital after a short illness. Born in and a lifelong resident of Poestenkill, Ed was the son of the late Edward and Margaret Kehn Showers and the husband of 70 years to the late Shirley Heffner Showers. Ed served and was Honorably Discharged from the Army. Ed was a self-employed contractor and the owner of Showers Apartments in Poestenkill. He was a former member of the Poestenkill Fire Company and the Sullivan Jones VFW Post in Poestenkill. Ed enjoyed traveling, visits to the casinos and buying his new cars and trucks.
Survivors include his son Ronald E. (Laura) Showers and his daughter Jill (Gary) Teal, both of Poestenkill: his grandchildren Corrine (Patrick) Bradley, Mellisa Teal, Amanda (Dan) Lynch, Hilary Showers and Kristopher (Heather) Showers; his great grandchildren Patrick, Emily, Libby, Kendra, Cora, Hazel, Carter and Colton; and many nieces and nephews. Ed was the brother of the late Emily Bradley and Marjorie Hunziker.
Relatives and Friends are invited and may call 2-5 pm on Saturday, March 12 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park.
Ed and Shirley will be interred at the Gerald B.H. Solomon Cemetery where Ed will also be given Military Honors.
The family suggest donations in memory of Edward F. Showers may be made to the Poestenkill Fire Dept. PO Box 14, Poestenkill, NY 12140.
