Sand Lake-Elisa Alosco Vickers, 57, of Roaser Road, passed away quietly on Monday, March 19 with her loving husband and son by her side after a nine-month battle with brain cancer.
Artist, teacher and athlete, Elisa was born in the Bronx in 1960. She, Rob and son Jeff moved to upstate New York in 1989, where both she and Rob obtained their teaching degrees. They both taught in area Public School systems. Lisa touched the lives of hundreds of students and was much more than an educator to all of them. She will be sorely missed by the Sand Creek Middle School community in South Colonie.
In addition to Rob and Jeff, Elisa is survived by her mother Alberto Alosco, her three brothers, Mario, Lou and Tom, and her sister, Ginny. Her beloved father, Dr. Louis M. Alosco, passed away in October during Lisa's sickness. Many of us believe that it was their final meeting which gave him permission to die three days later.
Elisa always had a magical connection with children and animals. In lieu of flowers or gifts, please make a donation in Elisa's name, to either the Mohawk-Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave. Menands, NY 12204 or Equine Advocates PO Box 354 Chatham, NY 12037. Lisa worked hard on fundraisers for both.
A celebration of Elisa Vickers life is planned for Saturday, April 21, 1-4 p.m. at Revolution Hall 421 River Street Troy, NY. Anyone touched by Lisa's presence is invited to attend.
