Averill Park- Elizabeth Malik deJong, 91, of Birds Hill Road passed away on Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Samaritan Hospital surrounded by her family. Born in Sand Lake and a lifelong resident, Betty was the daughter of the late Paul W. and Ruth Lobbick Malik and the wife of the late Renny deJong. Betty attended the Averill Park Schools and at an early age worked at the former Faith Mills and waitstaff at Hanks in Sand Lake. Betty spent most of her life as a homemaker taking care of her home, her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Her life revolved around her family although she did enjoy her Salem 100’s and a cold Budweiser.
Betty was the former wife of the late LeRoy Taylor and mother of the late Wayne Taylor, sister of the late Eileen (late Joe) Colello, Alexander, Stephen, Richard, Wesley and Paul Malik and daughter in law #1 Donna Taylor.
Survivors include her children Linda Henchey of Stephentown, Nancy (Ruby) Taylor of Troy, David (Michele) Taylor of Troy, Lance Taylor of Averill Park, James (Lynn) Taylor of Troy and Ellen Taylor of Troy, her sister Bunny (Late Chuck) Ayotte of Averill Park, many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-7 pm on Tuesday, May 10 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
The family suggest donations in memory of Elizabeth deJong may be made to the Averill Park- Sand Lake Fire Dept. PO Box 116 Averill Park, NY 12018 or the Sand Lake Ambulance PO Box 222 West Sand Lake, NY 12196.
