Poestenkill- Emily E. Gervais, 88, of Snyders Corners Road, Wynantskill, died on Thursday, October 11, 2018 at Evergreen Commons Nursing Home after a brief illness. Born and raised in Troy, Emily was the daughter of the late Eugene and Arvilla Wilson Gervais. Emily was a graduate of Troy High School. Emily spent many summers of her youth in the Sand Lake area where she enjoyed swimming at Crooked Lake. She would swim from the Methodist Farm across the lake to the Crooked Lake Hotel and back. Emily and her family had resided in West Sand Lake from 1959 -1976 and later moved back to Troy and more recently at Snyders Corners Road. Emily enjoyed cross stitch, collecting antiques and baking cakes for friends and family. She enjoyed attending the Sand Lake Historical Society meetings.
Emily was the mother of her late infant son Robert Dean and sister of the late Arthur Gervais and Betty Montello.
Survivors include her daughter Janet M. Dean (Tim Forrest) of Mocksville, NC, sister Althea Bakensto of Dallas, TX, brother Lloyd (Deborah) Gervais of Grafton, uncle Lloyd Daniels of CA, several nieces, nephews and other close family members.
