Poestenkill- Erika M. Piller, 92, of Jones Road, died on Wednesday, March 20, 2019 at the home of her grandson. Born in Berlin Germany, Erika was the daughter of the late Paul August and Maria Louise Smolarski Hoedt and wife of the late Hugo Maka and John Piller. Erika lived in Berlin during WW II and had many stories to tell of what life was like during Hitler’s Reign and the life her family endured during those years. She came to the US in 1948 and settled in Albany. She worked in the Automotive Industry during her working career including Quality Glass in Troy where she was an Upholsterer. She had resided in Pleasantdale, Averill Park, Clifton Park before settling in Sebastian Florida for a number of years. In 2016 due to declining health she moved to Poestenkill to be with her grandson and his family. Erika was the mother of the late Barbara Cummings of Glass Lake. Survivors include her devoted grandson and wife Robert D. (Aletha) Cummings of Poestenkill, great grandson Andrew Cummings and a niece Karin Apfel of Canada.
