Poestenkill- Evelyn Heffner, 96, of Flint Drive, died on Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Ellis Hospital in Schenectady after a short illness. Born in the Bronx, Evelyn was the daughter of the late Marguerite Walter and wife of the late Chester C. Heffner. Evelyn had resided in the area for almost 80 years and most of that as a resident of Poestenkill. Evelyn had worked in the payroll dept. of Marshall Ray Co. in Troy. She was a Life Member of the Poestenkill Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary, a member of the Sullivan - Jones VFW Post Ladies Auxiliary and was a past president. Evelyn was a member of the Poestenkill Seniors, Grafton Seniors, Sand Lake Seniors and the Rensselaer Seniors. Evelyn was a longtime member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Poestenkill.
Evelyn was the mother of the late Diana Leichenauer and Bonnie Loiselle Mortimer and sister of the late Dorothy MacNaughton, Lois Casey.
Survivors include her daughter Pamela (Michael) Fleming of Rogersville, TN a sister Joyce Greismer of Hadley, NY, 9 grandchildren, 16 greatgrandchildren, several great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral 7 p.m. Wednesday, December 20 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral chapel 4-7 p.m. on Wednesday prior to the service.
Interment Brookside Cemetery, Barbersville.
