Nassau- Francis K. DeFilippis, 86, of Nassau - Averill Park Road died on Wednesday, March 29, 2017 at the Community Hospice at Albany Memorial Hospital after a brief illness. Born and raised in Troy, Fran was the son of the late Francis P. and Madeline Benedict DeFilippies.  Fran had resided in the area most of his life. He had served in the Army from 1951-1953 and was discharged with the rank of Sergeant. Fran had been a Crane Operator during his working career and had worked out of the International Union of Operating Engineers, Local 106 in Albany. He had spent many of those years working at Bloomfield Construction and had worked on the construction of Crossgates Mall. He had retired 30 years ago. Fran had spent many years as a volunteer with the Sand Lake Ambulance. He was a life member, a First Responder and had spent many hours as a driver. Fran was a licensed pilot and had owned his own plane, he was a Ham Radio Operator and enjoyed hunting, fishing, visits to the ocean and Old Forge, NY. and was a big New York Yankees fan.
Survivors include his wife of 30 years Mary Jo Baker DeFilippis, his children Michael (Stacey) Walczak, John, Kenny (Anne), Daniel (Deanna), Thomas (Maria) DeFilippis and Jayne (Kevin) Schaum, his brother Michael (Sandi) DeFillippis and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Fran was the brother of the late William DeFilippis.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park, 4-6:30 p.m. on Monday April 3, 2017 followed by a Memorial Service at 6:30.
The family suggest donations be made to the Hoags Corners Fire Dept. 7237 State Rte. 66 E. Nassau, NY 12062 or the Hoags Corners Ambulance PO Box 90 E. Nassau, NY 12062.
