Poestenkill- Francis L. Geise, 75, of Plank Road died suddenly at the Samaritan Hospital on Monday, November 5, 2018 after being stricken at his residence. Born in Allegany, NY, Fran was the son of the late Lawrence and Agnes Zilloux Geise and the beloved husband of Judith Walz Geise. Fran grew up on the Geise Family farm in Allegany where the family also owned oil wells until the early 1990’s. The Geise family business dated back to the early 1900’s. Fran came to the area where he attended HVCC graduating with an Associate Degree in Automotive Technology and where he also met Judy. He started his working career with AT&T in New Jersey and after 3 years moved on to International Harvester, which became JI Case- New Holland. Fran was the Regional Service Supervisor for the New England Territory and retired after 35 years. Fran and Judy lived in Eagle Mills before making their home in Poestenkill in 1971. After retiring from JI Case- New Holland, Fran worked part time for Salem Farm Supply where he did warranty work. Fran did Drag Racing at Lebanon Valley at one time and he enjoyed lake life at South Long Pond in Grafton where he owned a camp. He enjoyed hunting, fishing was the ultimate tinkerer of small engines, and enjoyed traveling to Europe numerous times, Alaska and any Beach that he could walk in the sand. Fran had been a twin town little league coach and was a big Yankees Fan and an avid NASCAR fan with Dale Earnhardt Sr. his favorite driver.
Survivors in addition to his wife of 51 years include his daughter Kristina (Michael) Gordon of Brunswick, his son Eric (Micheline) Geise of Wynantskill and his grandchildren Kyle Gordon, Isadora, Gabriela and Lucas Geise.
Relatives and friends are invited to call 11 am – 12 noon on Saturday, November 10 at St. Jude the Apostle Church, Brookside Ave. Wynantskill, followed at 12 noon by A Mass of Christian Burial.
