Averill Park- Frank J. Bliss, 81, of Tollgate Road died on Tuesday, December 25, 2018 at his residence after a long illness. Born in Boston, MA. Frank was the son of the late Hale and Dorothy Bliss Caywood and the beloved husband of the late Patricia Polit Bliss. Frank grew up in New York City and came to Albany in 1955. He worked at Williams Press where he was a bookbinder before working for and retiring from Owens Corning Fiberglass in Glenmont where he was a Fiberizer. Frank had moved to Averill Park in 1974 and was a communicant of St. Henrys Church and a member of the Knights of Columbus # 10990 in Averill Park. Frank was an avid hunter and maintained a hunting camp in Schoharie and was also a member of the Cross-Creek Rod & Gun Club in Schoharie. Frank enjoyed bowling at Highway Recreation and was a Union Official with Local #77 for Owens Corning and a former safety Chairman. Most recently Frank had worked for the maintenance department of the Averill Park School District and could be found spending his time at Stewarts in West Sand Lake.
Survivors include his children Mary A. (William) Foreman of Albany; Doris A. (Robert) Miner of Averill Park; Peter G. (Kim) Smith of Clarksville; Jeannette (Michael) Freed of Averill Park; James J. (Cathi) Smith of Albany; Bonnie M. (the late James) Begonia of Newport News, VA; Anne Marie (Edward) Bliss of West Sand Lake, his brothers and sisters Richard Rooney, Nancy Manning, Stephen Caywood, Susan Fenner all of Everett, WA and Donald Caywood of Redding, WA, several grandchildren and many great grandchildren.
Frank was the father of the late Susan A. Learey and grandfather of the late Jacob Mooney.
Funeral 11 a.m. Monday, December 31 at St. Henrys Church 39 Old Rte. 66 Averill Park where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered
Relatives and Friends are invited and may also call 3-6 p.m. on Sunday, December 30 at the CHURCH.
Interment Elmwood Cemetery West Sand Lake.
