Middle Granville- Gail L. Harte, 57, left this world on Monday, June 9, 2025 after a short and unexpected illness. Gail was born on July 12, 1967, in Troy, NY, to Samuel L. Houston and Rosemary Geerholt Houston Bradway. She was raised in beautiful Taborton, Sand Lake NY. She will be laid to rest there, next to her brother Keith A. Houston, whom passed away, August 2024.
Gail is survived by her son, Ryan Hughey (Hillary), of Rutland, VT and her two grandchildren, Taylor and Nate Hughey. She is also survived by her mother, Rosemary Bradway of Taborton, sister Brenda Saunders (Scott) of Petersburgh, brother, Lyle S. Houston of Wynantskill, sister, Lori Safford (Dave) of Troy, brothers Jack Bradway and Justin Bradway (Kirstie) both of Averill Park. She is also survived by her companion Steve Duel of Middle Granville. Gail’s world revolved around her family, which included her beloved dogs Summer and Fena, and cats Teddy and Baby Cakes. They stayed by her side and miss her terribly.
Gail loved to garden. She raised her own vegetables, fruit trees, and berry patches. She routinely canned jams and jellies, which she shared with her loved ones. She also loved auctions, garage sales, estate sales, and mostly, free piles along the highway. This was her biggest high! Gail was a graduate of Averill Park High School and Hudson Valley Community College, where she received her Real Estate degree and license. Gail received her CDL and drove school buses for Berlin Central Schools and the Granville Central School District for many years. She then worked for NYS OPWDD in a group home, dedicating herself to taking care of their clients with one on one care, until retiring 1.5 years ago. She then accepted a position with the USPS and ran the post office in North Granville, where she truly enjoyed making friends with ALL of her customers. Gail’s tireless work ethic carried her into a long career of public service. Gail was the most caring and giving person. She would quite literally give the shirt off her back if someone was in need. Gail will be remembered for her deep devotion to her family, and the legacy of hard work, memories and strength, right until the end.
