North Greenbush- Gary L. Anderson, 67, of Bloomingrove Drive died on Monday January 20, 2014 at his residence after a short illness. Born in Hudson, Gary was the son of the late James H. and Catherine L. Dewhurst Anderson and the beloved husband of Joyce Engwer Anderson. Gary grew up at Snyder's Lake and was a 1966 graduate of the Averill Park High School. He served in the Air Force from 1966-1970 where he was a jet mechanic and was discharged with a rank of sergeant. Gary and Joyce were married in March of 1969 and had resided on Bloomingrove Drive since 1974. Gary worked for the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. for 36 years and had retired in October of 2007 as a machinist. Gary had many enduring friendships that he made during his career. Gary was a member of the NiMo 25-year club. Gary enjoyed snowmobiling and RVing to many destinations in the Northeast as well as Myrtle Beach. He was a drag racing and NASCAR fan, an overall car enthusiast who enjoyed working on them. Survivors in addition to his wife include his son, Jason G. Anderson of Snyder's Lake; his daughter, Erica E. (Marc) Berardi of Cicero; his sister, Linda (Kevin) Sagendorf of Snyder's Lake; his cherished grandson, Greyson R. Berardi and his father-in-law, Raymond Engwer of Averill Park. Gary was the brother-in-law of Tim (Carla) Engwer, Kathy Lentlie and David (Dawn) Engwer. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Gary's family wishes to thank the staff of the Community Hospice of Rensselaer Co. for their care and support during Gary's illness. Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park on Saturday 1-4 p.m. followed by a service at 4 p.m. If desired donations in memory of Gary L.
