Poestenkill- George T. Baldwin Sr., 79, of Fifty Six Road, died suddenly on Monday, December 29, 2014 at the Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany after being stricken at his residence. Born in Troy, George was the son of the late Howard R. Baldwin and Geneva Oatman Baldwin Cioffi and the husband of Lillian Knudsen Baldwin. George was a lifelong resident of the area, had served in the Marines from 1956- 1958 and had been a Drywall Finisher with the Laborers Union in Troy. He had also been an owner-operator with the Black and White Taxi until his retirement in 1996. George enjoyed hunting, fishing and riding his motorcycle and was an avid Western and War movie buff. He had wintered in Florida for a number of years. George was a beloved father, stepfather and grandfather. George was the brother of the late Lawrence E., William H. and Howard R. “Inkie” Baldwin. Survivors in addition to his wife include his children Bruce Baldwin of Westbrook, ME. George T. Baldwin Jr. and Darryl Baldwin both of Troy, Melodie Walters of Berlin and Rachel Baldwin of Rensselaer his step sons Charles Oswald Jr. of Waterford, Paul Oswald of Poestenkill and Karl Oswald of Springfield, VA, his brothers Theodore R. Baldwin of Waterford, Jack J. Baldwin of Deltona, FL. and James E. Baldwin of No. Bangor, NY along with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Funeral Service Saturday 10 a.m. at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
