Averill Park-Gerald A. Siesfeld, 87, of Burden Lake Road died Sunday, March 26, 2017 at home having lived a long and happy life. Jerry, son of the late Leo G. and Catherine McKillopp Siesfeld was raised in Belle Harbor, Queens, the youngest of five children, and later resided in New York City and Pelham Manor, NY before retiring to Burden Lake in 1993. A graduate of St. Peter’s University in Jersey City, he began a career in advertising ending at D’arcy, Masius, Benton & Boweles in New York as Vice President, Account Supervisor and International Liaison. In retirement, Jerry assisted his wife, Gail, operating A&G title and Settlement in Averill Park, NY, and was a volunteer reader with WMHT/RISE. He found joy in family time, was an accomplished photographer, could recite many poems and stories from memory, was an avid reader, traveler, and birder, and loved living near the water. His tinkering essentials were string, glue, and duct tape.
Jerry’s first wife, Ruth Anne Summers Siesfeld, died on July 9, 1996.
Survivors include his wife of 20 years Gail Borwegen Siesfeld of Averill Park; children Tony (Cammy Thomas), Lexington, MA., Meg (Daniel Blackman) , Montclair, NJ and Jim (Heidi Fried) , New Rochelle, NY; grandchildren Emma and Claire Siesfeld, Annie and William Blackman and Leah and Ruth Anne Siesfeld; brothers in law, William Keegan and Ralph (Terry) Borwegen, and father in law, Wm. Bruce Borwegen along with many nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 1, 2017 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park, N , interment St. Peters Cemetery, Troy, NY immediately following.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at the funeral chapel on Friday, March 31, 2017 from 4-7 p.m.
