Albany-Gladys B. Schulz, 92, of Hudson Park Nursing Center, a former longtime resident of Thais Road, Averill Park, died on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at her residence. Born in Albany and raised in Delmar, Gladys was the daughter of the late Richard and Blanche Long Brownell and the wife of the late Willard C. Schulz who died on February 20, 2012. Gladys was a graduate of the Bethlehem High School and had resided in Rensselaer after her marriage and moved to Averill Park in 1949, residing there until 2005. During Willard's service to his country during World War II, Gladys resided in California and was a Rosy the Riverter girl. Gladys had retired in 1982 from the New York State Division for youth where she had been an accountant for 22 years. She had attended HVCC and was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in West Sand Lake. She was a former volunteer at the Trinity Day School and served as treasurer for six years and was a former member of the Altar Guild Society. Along with Willard, Gladys at one time raised and showed Doberman Pincers. She enjoyed camping, spending Saturday nights at Lebanon Valley and was a NASCAR fan. Gladys was the sister of the late Jesse Hotaling and Gertrude Ingraham and mother- in-law of the late William Hoffman. Survivors include her children, Kenneth (Lorie) Schulz and Maureen Hoffman, both of Averill Park, Wayne (Gretchen) Schulz of Sand Lake and Donald (Sherri) Schulz of Brunswick; her grandchildren, Shane Schulz, William and Jeremiah Hoffman, Alex and Erin Schulz. Funeral Saturday, February 22, at 10 a.m. at the Trinity Lutheran Church, 4363 Rte. 150, West Sand Lake. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park on Friday from 4-7 p.m. Interment, Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
