Poestenkill- Harold J. Arnold Jr., 73, of Lynn Road, Averill Park passed away on Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital after a brief illness. Born in Troy, Harold was the son of the late Harold J. and Eva Southard Arnold Sr. Harold attended schools in the East Greenbush School District and had resided in Poestenkill for over 50 years. Harold had served in the Army during Vietnam. He had a career with NYS DOT in Defreestville where he was a driver and mechanic. Following his job at DOT, Harold worked for Troy Sand and Gravel before retiring. Harold enjoyed gardening, working on cars and he had a big interest in classic cars. Harold would deer hunt and loved his animals.
Survivors include his daughter Brenda Arnold (Adam) of Poestenkill, his grandson Michael Rockenstire Jr., his former son in law Michael Rockenstire Sr. of Poestenkill, his former longtime companion Starr Lashway of Poestenkill, his brother Bruce (Barbara) Arnold of Troy, his sisters Linda (Steve) Dzembo of Halfmoon and Darlene Arnold of Troy, several nieces and nephews, his feline companions Trouble, Bud-Bud and Peanut. Harold enjoyed traveling with his canine companions, now deceased, Tippy, Boomer and Dusty. Harold was the father of the late Mark Arnold, and brother of the late Diane Wilkinson, Sharon and Sandra Arnold.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call 4-6:30 pm on Monday January 31, 2022 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake. A funeral service will follow at 6:30 pm.
Spring Interment in the Brookside Cemetery, Barbersville.
If desired and because of Harold’s love of animals donation’s in his memory may be made to the Mohawk Hudson Humane Society 3 Oakland Ave., Menands, NY 12204.
