Helen A. Hayner

d. February 18, 2017

North Creek- Helen A. Rogers Hayner, 98, went home on Friday, February 18, 2017
Born in Sand Lake, NY, she was the daughter of Lithuanian immigrants, Eva Kardokas and Joseph Radjavicius on June 29, 1918, before women had the right to vote.
Helen was a graduate of the Averill Park High School class of 1936. While there, she was proud to be on the traveling Girls Basketball Team. She worked at the Cluett and Peabody Shirt Factory in Troy, as a merchandiser for over 30 years.
During her long life, mom enjoyed gardening, especially her roses, was an accomplished seamstress, sewing for the home and clothes for school, traveled around the United Satiates, Canada, the Caribbean, and many times visited her extended family in Lithuania. She was proud of her Lithuanian heritage. She was a founding member of the Knights of Lithuania and was awarded the Fourth Degree, the highest attainable. She was always eager to travel anywhere. Mom was a big fan of President Clinton and met Hilary Clinton at a conference several years ago. Mom proudly enjoyed taking part in her campaign for President. This past November, while residing at the nursing home, she again had the opportunity to vote for her.
Surviving are her loving children Lynn A. (Hayner) McDonald of Chestertown, NY and Robert J. Hayner of Rensselaer, NY. She enjoyed her 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, several nieces and a nephew. Mom was predeceased by her husband Beverly J. Hayner, her sister Estelle Nelson, brother George Rogers, and her nephew, Kairl Nelson.
We would to sincerely thank all the staff at the Adirondack Tri-County Nursing Home for their very generous spirit and compassionate care that they gave to our mom. As for her Lithuanian song, “Noriu Miego”, which when translated means “I want sleep, sweet sleep”, we know she certainly got her wish.
Services will be private at the convenience of the family.
