Born in Scranton PA, Helen was the daughter of the late John and Josephine Woitach Kowalski and was the sister of the late Edward Kowalski and Marion Penyak. She was the devoted wife of the late Charles DeSanto with whom she shared 65 wonderful years. She especially enjoyed spending time with loved ones, most especially her grandchildren, whom she adored. She was generous with her time and was always the first to step in and offer help to friends and family whenever needed. One of her favorite pastimes was gathering friends and organizing a day of shopping and bargain hunting. While residing in Scranton, Helen was a devoted communicant of St. Ann Monastery Church and more recently was a communicant of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park. Survivors include her daughters Charlotte (Donald) Garrison of Fairfax, VA. and Helene (Catherine Ogden) DeSanto of Averill Park, her loving longtime “daughter” Marguerite Franzini of Loveland, CO. and her grandchildren Charlie Garrison and his fiancée Claire Goldman, and Sarah Garrison and many loving nieces and nephews.
