Poestenkill- Henry J. Ackner, 82, of Rte. 355, died on Monday, January 22, 2018 at the Albany Medical Center Hospital after an extended illness. Born in Poestenkill, Henry was the son of the late Henry J. and Myrtle C. Gottschalk Ackner and the husband of 63 years to Jacqueline Stritsman Ackner. Henry was a lifelong resident of Poestenkill, had attended the Averill Park Schools, worked for the former 7-Up bottling in Poestenkill and Allegheny Ludlum Steel before working for Daireylee which became the Hood Co. in Albany. Henry held many positions within the company prior to his retirement. Henry was a member of the Emerald Athletic Club in Troy and had enjoyed camping, woodcutting and hunting during his lifetime.
Henry was the brother of the late William H. Ackner, Donald E. Ackner, Mildred Schmidt, Virginia Boomhower and Margaret Wortz, brother in law of the late Ronald Stritsman.
Survivors in to his wife include his sons Craig (Shelly) Ackner of Johnsonville, Kevin (Lisa) Ackner of Grafton, his daughter Dawn Ackner of Brunswick, his brother in law Wayne Stritsman of Wynantskill, his canine companion Babes, 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.
Funeral 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 26 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
Relatives and friends are invited and may also call 4-7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel.
Interment Evergreen Cemetery, Wynantskill.
