d. May 22, 2014

West Sand Lake-Jakob Ryhs Budesheim, 17, of Tollgate Road, went back to the Lord on Thursday, May 22, 2014 after a 15-year struggle with Duchenne's Muscular Dystrophy. Born in Albany, Jake was the son of Mark and Diane Hunt Budesheim. Jake was the best beloved son, brother, nephew, and uncle. He loved dolphins, whales, baseball (Mets), and football (Giants). He played Twin Town Challenger baseball for the past 11 years and was "bummed" when it was rained out. Jake enjoyed going to the Valley Cats games and threw "the first pitch" a few years ago. For the past eight years, he has been going to the Double H Ranch, and always wanted to stay because he had a lot of fun. Jake attended the Center for Disability Services (Langan School) for the past 10 years. He loved school and they all loved him. They taught him many things such as the meaning of teamwork, sharing, and caring, but he really loved the classroom for cooking. He would make milk deliveries and, best of all, he loved swimming with his teachers. Jake tried to live life to the fullest in his own special way. Thanks to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, in 2005 Jake and his family stayed at Give Kids the World Village in Kissimmee, Fla., and visited "Mickey's House." He went to five different parks (Sea World, Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Universal Studios) in one week. Jake brightened up the room with his smile. He loved to play his favorite video games "Halo" and "Call of Duty." His favorite color was green just like his power chair and so his Mom painted his room green, too! Jake's family wishes to thank the Walter Adams Post 102, for the fundraiser towards Jake's special-needs van. Jake was predeceased by his adored grandfather, "Papa" George Budesheim, and his loved grandfather, James Hunt. Survivors, in addition to his loving parents, include his doting big sister, Jennifer (Carmine) Riccardo of Maine; his loving grandmothers, Marge Hunt of Sun City, Fla., and Janine Budesheim of Averill Park; his aunts and uncles, Wanda (Ed), and Karen (Eric), both of New York, Alisa (Paul) of Michigan, and Patti (Jim) Hunt of Texas; his niece Jossolyn and nephew C.J.; along with several cousins. Funeral, 10 a.m., Wednesday, May 28, 2014, at St. Henry's Church, 39 Old Route 66, Averill Park, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call at the church on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. Jake's family suggests donations in his memory be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1 Mustang Drive, Cohoes, NY 12047, or the Center for Disability Services (Langan School), 314 S. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208. Jake would really appreciate it, too!Visit perrykomdat.com for directions and private guestbook.
