Averill Park - James B. "Jim" Hardy, 65, of 30 Meadow Road, passed away suddenly on Monday, September 1, 2025, at his home.
Born on May 13, 1960, in Nassau, NY, Jim was the son of the late John W. Hardy and Marion Van Deusen Blair, and the devoted, loving husband of Monica Maier Hardy. Jim grew up in Nassau and, since 1987, made his home on Burden Lake in Averill Park — a place he truly loved. He began his career running his own business, Jim Hardy's Painting, before joining Painters Union Local 201, where he worked for a decade. He later spent 23 years as the supervisor of the Paint & Sign Shop at the University at Albany, where his dedication and craftsmanship left a lasting impact.
After retiring, Jim and Monica embraced their love for adventure, traveling across the country in their camper and on their motorcycle. Together, they explored beaches, campgrounds, and many of America's greatest sites, creating memories that will be cherished forever. During their camping travels, Jim and Monica met many lifelong friends, building bonds that became like family over the years.
A true Harley-Davidson enthusiast, Jim also loved soaking up the sun on his dock, enjoying the peacefulness of Burden Lake, and, above all, spending time with his family. Their travels also led them to a second home in Daytona Beach, Florida — a special place where Jim looked forward to returning each winter.
Jim will be remembered for his generous heart, his unwavering love for his family, and the pride he carried as "Pop" to his 11 beloved grandchildren: Alex, Nicholas, Jackson, Kiana, Brianna, Kole, Karsyn, Tallulah, Peter, Sawyer, and Oaklyn.
Jim is survived by his loving wife, Monica; his children, Andrea (Nick) Prusky of Paris, TN, Todd (Janelle) Hardy of Middletown, NY, Shawn (Noelle) Hardy of North Greenbush, and Brian (Sedona) Hardy of Mission Viejo, CA; his brother, Jack Hardy of San Diego, CA; and his sisters, Judy Miner and Joanne Lawrence, both of Averill Park, and Alicia LaScala of Nassau.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects on Sunday, September 7, 2025, from 12:00PM to 3:00 PM at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel, 2691 NY 43, at Glass Lake, Averill Park.
Jim will be deeply missed, but the love, lessons, and legacy he leaves behind will live on forever in the hearts of those who knew him.
