Sand Lake- Jean C. Mieczkowski, 93, a longtime resident of Taborton Road, died on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Van Rensselaer Manor. Born in Hudson, NY, Jean was the daughter of the late Russell P. and Mabel Plass Dingman, Sr. and wife of the late Theodore H. Mieczkowski. Jean had resided in Sand Lake for over 75 years before moving off the “mountain” in 2017 to reside with her daughter. She had been a resident of the Manor since June of 2020. Jean had been a waitress at the Day’s Inn in Menands and Basil’s Restaurant in Albany before retiring.
Jean was a longtime member of the Taborton Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary and was a past president. She was a member of the Zion’s UCC in Taborton and enjoyed Bowling, gardening and crossword puzzles.
Jean was the sister of the late Russell P. “John” Dingman and Royal Frederick “Fritz” Dingman.
Survivors include her children Gary H. Mieczkowski of West Sand Lake, Michael J. (Irene) Mieczkowski and Donna M. (Roger) Wood both of Averill Park, Diana Parrish of Winter Park, FL. and Joseph (Lisa) Mieczkowski of Sand Lake, her sister Gertrude Wolfe of Ghent, NY 11 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren.
Services will be private with burial in the Taborton Cemetery.
