Poestenkill- Jean E. Daus (Heffner), 91, of Main Street died on Thursday, November 15, 2018 at her residence after a short illness surrounded by her family. Born and raised in Albany, Jean was the daughter of the late Jesse and Florence Covey Sutton and wife of William G. Daus. Jean was a graduate of Hackett High School and married Arnold Heffner, after he served his country in the Navy, and they made their home in Poestenkill. Arnold and Jean were married until his death in 1981. Jean and Bill married in 1988 and continued to make Poestenkill their home. Jean worked at the former Albany Woolen Mills and Nassau Toy Products in Albia and the Watervliet Arsenal before working for the State of New York. She worked in various departments at the state and retired in 1988 from the DMV in Albany. Jean was a member of the Sullivan – Jones VFW Post Auxiliary for over 50 years and had served as president along with her membership in the Hudson Mohawk Counties Council of the VFW where she served in numerous positions including president. Jean had been a Volunteer at the Stratton VA Hospital and the Manatee Hospital. Jean enjoyed Bowling with the Tuesday Night League at Highway Bowl and the Tropic Isles Bowling League in Florida. Jean and Bill enjoyed spending their winters in Palmetto, FL. for over 20 years.
Survivors in addition to her husband Bill include her children Michael (Marie) Heffner of Averill Park, Vicky Lee (Joe Novak) Heffner-Williams of Poestenkill, Matthew J. (Molly) Heffner of Castleton, Allan (Sandy) Daus and Michael (Marion) Daus both of Wynantskill, James Daus of Nassau, Gary Daus of Troy, Richard (Debbie) Daus of Easton and Theresa (James) Coonrad of East Poestenkill, 25 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 12 great great grandchildren and several Nieces and Nephews.
Jean was the sister of the late Dorothy Stocklas and Helen Beaudry and mother in law of the late Lawrence Williams.
Relatives and friends are invited and may call at 1-4 pm on Sunday, November 18 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park followed by a service at 4 p.m.
The family suggest donations in memory of Jean Daus  be made to the Sullivan Jones VFW Post Auxiliary PO Box 89 Poestenkill, NY 12140 or the Community Hospice c/o St. Peters Hospital Foundation 310 So. Manning Blvd., Albany, NY 12208.
