Averill Park-Jeanne L. Petropol, 75, of Bullis Drive, died on Wednesday, November 15, 2017 at her residence after an extended illness. Born in Troy, Jeanne was the daughter of the late Frank W. and Elizabeth Dunham Ostwald and wife of Leon P. Petropol. Jeanne was a lifelong resident of the Averill Park area and a graduate of Averill Park High School. Jeanne worked at the Capital Mutual Insurance Co. in Sand Lake for a number of years before working for Hudson Valley Community College. Jeanne retired in 2010 after 25 years. She was a Program Assistant at the time of her retirement. In 2009, Jeanne was the first person from Classified Service to be awarded the HVCC Chancellor’s Award for Excellence. Jeanne was an Avon Representative for many years and was also a proud supporter of animal advocacy.
Jeanne enjoyed her Chevrolets and the power under the hood. She owned numerous Monte Carlos. She was a former Home Bureau member, a communicant of St. Henry’s Church in Averill Park, and a big fan of Elvis Presley.
Survivors in addition to her husband include her daughters Lisa Anne (Matt Haner) Petropol of Poestenkill and Jennifer Lee (Jeff) Austin of Colonie, her sisters Elizabeth (Terry) Turner of Averill Park, Carol (Donald) Turner of Troy, and Beverly Cootware of Averill Park, and her granddaughters Rachel, Amanda, and Ashley Haner.
Funeral 11 a.m Monday, November 20 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake, Averill Park followed by burial service St. Henry's Cemetery, Averill Park. Relatives and friends are invited and may also call 1-4 p.m. on Sunday, November 19 at the Perry-Komdat Funeral Chapel 2691 NY 43 at Glass Lake Averill Park.
The family requests donations in memory of Jeanne L. Petropol may be made to the Down Syndrome Aim High Resource Center, a division of Center for Disability Services, 22 Corporate Woods Blvd #5 Albany, NY 12211.
